Problem with CDpedia not synching & crashing PocketPedia

Hello. Long-time Pedia user (CD, Book, & DVD), just recently started using PocketPedia on a new iPhone.

In PocketPedia, CDpedia has stopped syncing/updating. DVD and BookPedia work fine, but CDpedia goes to the "synchronizing... Requesting Collections" window but never transfers any data. After a few minutes it returns to the main Collections page but PocketPedia seems frozen. Pushing the home button on the iPhone will eventually quit the program.

This is just with CDpedia, the other programs sync just fine. Please let me know the best way to go about troubleshooting this. Thanks!

Please email us your CDpedia database file so that we can try the sync ourselves. You will find the file in your home folder at ~/Library/Application Support/CDpedia/Database.pediadata. Select the file and use the "Compress" option under the file menu to create a .zip file for emailing. Also if you could take a look at your console log for any errors from CDpedia that might have occurred during the sync. To view the console log use the program of the same name in your utilities folder. Finding errors from Pocketpedia is a bit more complicated as you need the iPhone Configuration Utility from Apple in order to access the iPhone console log, so don't worry about that step for now. If with your database I am able to replicate the bug here, then I can search for the error.

The Mac OS X firewall has an annoying bug that sometimes even though the program appears as allowed in the firewall it's actually denied access. With CDpedia not running remove it from the allowed programs, then replace the CDpedia application with a new copy from our web site (http://www.bruji.com/cdpedia/cdpedia.dmg). Launch the new CDpedia and authorize the connection and try the sync. These steps will force Mac OS X to recreate the allow firewall rule for CDpedia.

i'm also getting this problem - i have ipod touch 2G and macbook running 10.5.6, and airport wifi network. i'm using the demo and it looks a fantastic product, but i don't want to buy it if i can't synch it. i've tried disabling the firewall, reinstalling cdpedia and pocketpedia, but can only get as far as "synchronizing... requesting collections" and the ipod freezes.

any more ideas? i'd LOVE this to work!

It should time out after two minutes of no response and not freeze. Do please send us your database file, so that we can try the sync. You will find the file in your home folder under ~/Library/Application Support/CDpedia/Database.pediadata.
