DVDpedia - Strange bug when accessing IMDB

I have the latest version of DVDpedia, and am using OSX 10.4.11.

Often, when using DVDpedia, I need to manually enter a title using the Chinese name found on the IMDB. A couple of times, it's given me very strange results - not a list of movies, but a list of IMDB categories. See:



In addition, I was tidying up some pictures today, and it did something REALLY strange and kept erasing one of the titles I was working on. I went back, typed in the title again, clicked on another few entries... and the title would disappear. This happened 4 or 5 times, even when I CHANGED the title in that field to one word, just to make sure it wasn't invisible character or something I typed in there accidently that was messing things up. Finally, I quit the program, reopened it... and the title was there (seemingly for good). Weird!

Thank you for the detailed report. Could you take a look at your console log with the program of the same name found in your /Applications/Utilities folder. Just do a search for DVDpedia. If there any errors from DVDpedia could you send us that information. I haven't been able to duplicate either of the bugs but I will continue trying. If you can duplicate it again, do send us more details such as what other Chinese search titles give you problems. And a step-by-step account of how you try to change the title and the changes not sticking. The more details we have, the better we can recreate the problem here.

Thanks for the quick response.

Under "add" / "add manually" I typed in the Chinese title above, clicked on the little gear in the lower right to bring up the list, selected IMDB, and got the same results above. I tried this twice, and it happened both times. I ran the console, as you suggested, cleared it out and went through the steps to recreate the error - once again, DVDpedia did recreate the error, but no error messages showed up on the console (nothing at all happened there).

P.S. What just struck me is that, regardless of the weird things that are showing up on the list of choices, the film's title (Ai qing de dai jia) is not one of them. Strange, because... I'm looking at it... that's how the IMDB lists the film, so it's certainly THERE.

I did try that originally but was unable to repeat it, I get the actual movie a single result. It could be I am working with the beta on my computer or some IMDb preferences if you are logged in. Try the beta.

It works properly in the beta. I relaunched 4.2.2 and got the same error, so whatever the problem is, it looks like it'll be taken care of in the next version.
