Can't get IntelliScanner to work

I have an IntelliScanner and can quickly scan a pile of books or DVD's all at once into the Collector application. However, I like the features of Bookpedia better. I can't get the scanner to work directly with Bookpedia. For now I scan everything into Collector and export the data, which I then import to Bookpedia. Can anyone help figure this out?

The IntelliScanner should have an option where it sends the scanned number as keyboard input (it might be that all you need to do is open the find window before you start scanning). There is also a preference to add the first result automatically so that you don't have to verify the addition to the collection and therefore can scan continuously.
