Cannot Sync with itouch

Hi all! I can't get my itouch to sync with Pocketpedia because the itouch will not show up on my desktop. I upgraded to the new version of the itouch today and it has been installed. Any ideas as to how to overcome this? Thanks!

The iPod Touch never shows up on the Desktop. It's not like the old iPod that had a disk mode and could be accessed like a pen drive. The only way for us to get information from the desktop Pedia to Pocketpedia is via the wireless network. So both the computer and the iPod Touch have to be on the same wireless, any firewalls have to be off and both programs running. Also have the USB cable connected for supplying power to the iPod Touch while the transfer occurs.
