Linking in GamePedia

Post by sam »

Hi again,

Had a wee breakthrough today in that I have been linking to scanned copies of manuals in Gamepedia (I lose anything not nailed down) and they were being really slow to open... until I noticed the Adobe Reader toolbar. Seems like all links open via WebKit integration and the plugins installed for Safari also effect this view. Removing the Adobe Acrobat plugin solved my problem, but it got me thinking about whether certain filetypes like pictures and pdfs could just be opened directly without internet plug-ins effecting things (e.g. embed the Cocoa PDF control instead of the Webkit window when the link is clicked for PDFs).

I suppose while I'm asking for stuff yet again, the ability to force stuff in links to launch externally would be good too.

Thanks,
sam

In the preference panel under style you will find a check box for "Open links in external web browser" this will affect all links including the PDFs. I will rephrase the preference for the next version, removing the word web, to avoid confusion.

Thanks Conor.

To be honest I didn't test that. I assumed that it would only do it for http:// URLS. Good to know that it's for everything.

Thanks again for you most excellent and quick response as always :)

Cheers,
sam

P.S> What the hey.. I decided today to pick up the other two pedias. You people do great work I have to support you all I can.
