Hi,
New to this software, so please forgive me... I am trying to use DVDpedia as a database for my 8 and super8 mm movies in addition to any DVD's (commercial or self made). Obviously I have to use the manual entry for adding records. However for the release date, the software adds always "nov. %Y" with the field defined as %b%Y or %m%Y in the Preferences. I would like to enter and to see month and year, in either 3 letters or numeral for the month, instead of nov. + year. The year is correctly stored.
NB: My date format on macOS is in French, is this a problem?
Can I also have more freedom here, e.g. allow as input "1985-1986" for a film reel which covers 2 years?

The date field are interpreted as a strict date. You are not allowed to add a free form string such as "1985-1986", you could use a custom field for this type of information. If you plan on not entering the month, be sure to not display it on the preferences. Mac OS X dates are specific to the second, even though not displayed. So for example if you enter only "2009", then the rest of the information matches the current date, so with a display of "%b %Y" it would show "Nov 2009". If you do enter a month, then it should display the correct month, be it in numerals or an abbreviation depending on your preferences.
