Hi Nora and Conor,
I created a folder with some smart collections in it in order to create more complex filters than the smart collection criteria allow. Recently I noticed that the folder does not reflect all the changes in the contained smart collections (e.g. additional movies) until I actually click on each smart collection to display it. Only then can I see the additional movies from the smart collections in the folder as well. I'm not sure if this is a bug or actually meant to behave like this. However, since I've got a number of collections and folders to process individually each time I'm exporting my database to HTML, this is slowing me down a bit.
I'm using DVDpedia 4.5.3 on Snow Leopard.
Thanks in advance for your brilliant help
This was originally on purpose to keep the UI fast, but DVDpedia has become blazing fast; so I will extend the refreshing of smart collections to group folders with the next update. Thank you for the feedback.
Hi Conor,
Sorry about the late reply. I downloaded the beta but haven't had time to check it out yet. However, knowing you, I'm sure it works perfectly
Thanks again and take care!
Yesterday I added some new DVDs to the library and then (at last!) tested the refresh in the latest version (4.5.4) of DVDpedia. Unfortunately, the folders still do not refresh automatically when a smart collection inside a folder changes. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
Could you give us the exact steps you're taking so we can try to repeat these here? I.e. what collection do you have selected when you're adding or editing entries, where else do you click, etc. The more details you can give us, the better. Thanks!
Hi Nora,
Thanks for getting back to me about this. This is what I do:
I've got a folder named "SciFi & Fantasy" which contains these two smart collections:
SciFi
"Collection ID" does not contain "TV" (this caters for my specific numbering system)
"Format" contains "DVD"
"Genre" contains "SciFi"
Fantasy
"Collection ID" does not contain "TV"
"Format" contains "DVD"
"Genre" contains "Fantasy"
When I add a new movie with the Genre "Fantasy" to the Library, then click on the "SciFi & Fantasy" folder to export the whole thing, I find that the newly added movie is not listed here. I have to click on the "Fantasy" smart collection first if I want the latest movie to be listed in the parent folder as well.
Does that make sense?
Thanks so much for your help.
I have the same issue (Book&DVD'pedias 4.5.5 /Mac OsX 10.6.2): My smart collections don't refresh the #items until clicking on it.
Thanks for your help.
