Search error in Bookpedia 2.3.0

Here's what's in the log.
2009-09-02 21:13:58.884 Bookpedia[4595] Amazon Search Error: MissingParameter = The request must contain the parameter Signature.

I get the same error for CD & DVDpedia as well.

Is it about time I updated?

Yup, you'll need to upgrade to at least 4.5.1 for Amazon searches because keys have changed:

sjk is right that it's time to update but it doesn't have anything to do with the Pocketpedia issue (but it all happened around the same time). On August 15th Amazon changed the way retrievals from the webservices work, the service we use to download information from their site, and now requires all requests to be signed and time-stamped. Unfortunately to run version 4.x of the Pedias you need to have OS X 10.4.9 or higher. Also the code that is used to create the signature does not work on Jaguar 10.2 and Panther 10.3, so we can't add it to the old version without breaking compatibility for those systems.

I linked to the article because it says:

… they also killed our access key to the Amazon Web Services which affects our desktop Pedias since the programs all use the same key.

Faster/easier for me than searching for earlier forum posts that topic.

Both are true, as we never did update the keys on the old version since it would still need to be signed starring August 15th.
