import batch movie files by importing a single parent folder

This means that if you have a folder of movies, DVDpedia can import the whole folder in one batch. It will go through the contents of the whole folder and subfolders and any movie file it recognizes will be imported with the link already generated. You don't have to import each movie file separately anymore.

All new capture cover art function built on new QuickTime foundation, with scaling and rotation

This means that we've updated the Capture Cover art feature (found under the Advanced menu), to take advantage of the new QuickTime. It's faster, has a better interface (single window instead of two) and is Snow Leopard compatible.

Updated plug-in architecture to be able to add multiple items at once from a plug-in including links

This means that we've updated the architecture behind the search plug-ins so if you write a plug-in for the Pedias you can now write it so that the plug-in will be able to add multiple items, including links. This is only for Cocoa developers who are interested in writing their own plug-ins for the Pedias.

Forgive my brain deadness but this import movie thing escapes me. By a "folder of movies" do you mean, like, .avi files of movies you have entries for in DVDPedia? I don't even understand what the word "import" means in this context.

You're right, these are movie files such as .avi files. Some users like to build their DVDpedia library by importing their movies files first and then downloading other information from Amazon or IMDb later on. One of the advantages of this is that the entries then have the movie files linked already so the user can play the movie straight from inside DVDpedia.
