Linked file disappeared!

Post by mediamaven »

OK, things were great when I was using VIDEO_TS folders, but I started converting things to .mp4s. Now, when I link the files, they'll play fine — but they're not in my original location, an external hard drive. I assume they "imported" into DVDpedia (which I didn't want). I just wanted them linked. The real trouble is, now that they've "imported" I can't find them anywhere.
When I look at the link it says [Data Folder]/Quicktime/movie title.
If I use spotlight to search for the file, it finds nothing.
Somebody, help a nube!

The file is located in your home folder at ~/Library/Application Support/DVDpedia/Downloads (in Leopard Spotlight no longer indexes the Library folder, I imagine because it was returning files users did not expect such as preference files). By default DVDpedia does not automatically move a movie file to the data folder but it's a preference under the general tab in the preference window. So check your preferences and uncheck "Move movies linked to DVDpedia's data folder". After you move the MP4 files back you will have to recreate the links to update them.

Thanks so much. I appreciate the help. DVDpedia is a great piece of software. I've recommended it many times, and I'm glad this wasn't a major problem. :D
