book covers get mixed up

Post by erikj »

I bought Bookpedia and CDpedia today, am very satisfied with it so far. The only problem I encounter is that it keeps mixing up cover art in bookpedia. Since I am a Dutch user, i have been creating cover art for some of my dutch books that couldn't be downloaded, but when I flip through the all the books I scanned today it seems to randomly subscribe book covers to different books. I don't want to create more album covers before this has been solved, to prevent myself from spending more hours in vain. How can I make sure that the covers stay put at the right title?

Thanks in advance, Erik
ps. tried to find an existing topic on this matter but couldn't find any despite using several keywords :(

How exactly are you adding the extra book covers? If you can give me a step by step I can try to reproduce the bug. Also please email us your database file for Bookpedia if you don't mind. You will find it in your home folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Bookpedia/Database.pediadata

Hey Conor,

I select the 'coverless' book and then go to advanced and click 'make cover for selection' and then take a shot with my iSight. (after which i press enter to 'attach' it to the title). It's not only those who get mixed up though, it's also the ones that are automatically downloaded. I'll send you the file! Thanks for the quick response!

ok...am trying to locate the pediadata file but it's nowhere...I made a backup where the program says it will save a copy in the folder you described, but when I browse through the files and folders or even search for the specific file in Finder, I can't find the file. It does have ~/contents/library/ but that folder contains Quicklook and Spotlight and no other folders. I can't find an Application Support folder anywhere else. I do have a backup file now but that's probably not what you want, it saved it automatically in my documents folder. It's a 5.4 MB zip file. Where do I go wrong?

Thank you for the description, I'll take a look specifically at the iSight capture method.

The file is not inside the program (this makes it easy to update the program without data loss). It's in your home folder (the house icon), there you will find a Library folder with Application Support inside and then Bookpedia inside of that.

The backup would contain the data but it gets reformatted to be compatible with version prior to 4.x, so it's not exactly the same. Now that you know where the original is, that file would be better. Select it and choose "Compress" from under the file menu to make a .zip version for sending.
