Hi
First of all thanks for a great piece of software =) Just bought it and so far i'm loving it.
I do however have a small problem... Maybe its just me being stupid or something but for the love of me I cant figure it out.
I just imported a list of movies (around 1000) with titles, collection id and mediaformat. Since I'm moving from another moviecollection software I thought this would be a nice time to get a clean update on all my movies from IMDb. So I select a bunch of movies and click on Update from --> IMDb. In most of the cases everything is fine and the right movie is chosen but now and then ofcourse IMDb chooses the wrong movietitle.
Here is where my troubles start... I now go in under edit and am able to get the litle sidepanel where you can see a list of movies with similar titles. So I choose the right one but the only thing that happens is that some of the empty fields are filled but all the "wrong" ones stay the same?? On the actor page instead of getting the "new and right" actorlist I now have a list from both movies??
This only happens when I update a movie that i imported. If I make a new entry from the start I get the same list from IMDb but this time it works like its supposed to. that is to say when click on the different titles the entire moviecard changes??
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance you can provide.
Problems with updating an imported list?
Re: Problems with updating an imported list?
DVDpedia is set up so that information already present is never overwritten. If you want to replace information in a field, you have to first delete the information from it. If this is the case for several entries, select them all and choose 'Edit' to bring up the multiple edit window and delete the field(s) in one batch.
To get further information for a movie I'd use the gear button in the Add/Edit window instead of the 'Update from' command since you can choose the correct result if more than one is found. The Update from command automatically downloads the first result returned and doesn't let you check it. (The Update from command is great when you have defining criteria such as the IMDb number, UPC or the DogTag already filled in for an entry so the program will definitely get the correct result.)

Re: Problems with updating an imported list?
OK now I think I'm following you... So if I have a txt file with my collection from my previous software where I have the correct IMDB URL as one of the fields I import to DVDpedia then when I choose to update from IMDb its going to use this as a reference and import the correct movie?
Re: Problems with updating an imported list?
Yes, if an entry has the IMDb number already added then the program will use that as its sole reference for finding the correct entry on IMDb.
