Why the change in URL handling in 4.6?
It used to be that if a record had an ASIN, but no URL, *Pedia would navigate to amazon.com/dp/{ASIN} or its equivalent if you clicked on the Title of the record. Very handy. Now *Pedia simply says the URL is missing and ignores the ASIN.
Re: Why the change in URL handling in 4.6?
With the number of different options now available for search sites we wanted to standardize the main URL to the value of the URL field that point to the site where the original information came from or that updated by the user. We thought about creating a new field that would allow a fallback to URLs created on the fly from other information such as ASIN, ISBN or IMDB, but that would require more changed and an update to our possible export tags that was too much change for a smaller release.
To fill the URL for entries with an empty URL you can select them all and run the menu command "Advance -->Get more info --> Amazon US" . Otherwise, to enable the old behavior (URL created based on ASIN) create a copy of your favorite info view template and change the new key [key:url] back to [key:amazonLink]. Here is information about creating a custom info view.
