I was trying to set up two smart collections -- one for entries with associated movie files and one for entries without. Thought that I could use the "URL" rule with "contains" and "/Volumes/", since those files are kept on an external drive and all of the link urls contain the word "Volumes". But for some reason, it doesn't work.

Anyone have any ideas how I can accomplish this? How does the "Url" rule work?

There is a regular URL field, that tends to point to Amazon where the original data came from. What your looking for is the link field. Unfortunately at the moment the smart collection rules are limited to looking at the name attribute of a link and not the url (any link name). It's on our feature request list to expand it to the other attributes of the links.
