I have had an iTouch since soon after they came out. I manually entered all my DVDs by going through Amazon search, Now I would like to sync them to my new iPhone without having to go through all the hassle again. Have they got the barcode scanner working yet, mentioned in late September? If not is there a way of syncing one to the other without having a Mac computer in between the two?
Thanks for the help.
iTouch to iPhone Pocketpedia
Re: iTouch to iPhone Pocketpedia
You can do a restore from iTunes, this will carry all your information, including Pocketpedia. Control click on your iPhone in iTunes select restore from backup and pick your iPod backup. I am not sure if iTunes allows a restore from an iPod Touch backup to an iPhone. Otherwise find a friend with a Mac, or a Mac at work, and use the demo version of our programs to transfer the database in a few minutes only.
1) Delete all collections from Pocketpedia on the iPhone with a finger swipe.
2) Download Bookpedia
3) Hold down the option key and in the main menu select "Help -- Pocketpedia".
4) A panel will come up telling you to initiate a sync do so from your iPod Touch, this will copy the Pocketpedia database file to the Desktop.
5) Rename the file from PocketpediaBackup.sql to PocketpediaReplace.sql.
6) Hold down the control key (ctrl) an from the menu again select "Help --> Pocketpedia".
7) You will get a panel saying initiate a sync, do so from your iPhone.
Done, you have replaced the database on the iPhone with that from the iPod Touch. Thumbnails images will not be included with the file so you will have to click on each entry to show the large cover, this will make Pocketpedia go online and download the thumbnail and cover.
