DVDpedia and wrong Theatrical date from IMDB

Whenever I add movies, I usually just add/search for them on IMDB.
The problem I've always had is that DVDpedia seems to return the wrong Theatrical date. Which is odd, since it actually fetches the right Release date (the release date = DVD release, right?).
It does this with every single movie.
Example: I search for a movie, lets just use 'Alien' as an example. The I find the movie (searching under IMDB), and DVDpedia shows the Theatrical date as Jan 1, 1979 and the Release date of Jun 5, 2007. If you click on the IMDB link in the Extra tab, you can clearly see that the actual Theatrical date IMDB shows is May 25, 1979.
Why does DVDpedia not fetch that date? And in some cases, the years are off, too - but I think that is because sometimes DVDpedia enters the release date from other countries, and even film festivals, rather than US theatrical dates.

Just wondering why this happens, and if anything can be done to correct the issue.

What's happening is that DVDpedia is set to only fetch the release year as IMDb lists it on its page, as in "Alien" (1979). But in your Preferences you have your date format for theatrical set to include day and month. So DVDpedia wants to fill out that information and because it doesn't actually have it, it enters Jan 1st. (Since there are very few movies actually released on that date.) We can look into having the program grab the full theatrical date in the future.

I d/l the beta and tried it. Yes, it does fetch the right Theatrical date now from IMDB, but now it won't fetch the ratings (I opened the non-beta right after noticing that, and tested to see if it was just IMDB, but the non-beta version properly fetched ratings, so it's just the beta).
