DVDpedia: Adding nordic search sites

Post by Pittens »

Hey there

I recently bought DVDpedia which is quite awesome. Im from Denmark, and dont see any searchsite for nordic region 2 DVDs, which is quite a shame :-( Any chance you could add http://www.axelmusic.dk and http://www.moviezoo.dk as search sites?

http://www.axemusic.dk is definatly the most important since they got a huge amount of titles and u can search on EAN/UPC numbers in the search bar on their site.

I would do it myself if i had the skills for it :-(

Thanks a lot for a cool piece of software.

Thank you for the feedback and the site suggestion. We do have axelmusic on the list of possible sites, but we are trying to limit new plug-ins to those sites with an API access. It makes for a better user experience as well as making it easier to maintain. Luckily more and more sites are providing API access, unfortunately axelmusic is not one of them yet. We also hoped to be able to make it easier to set rules for including new sites, but that is also a tough technical challenge. Hopefully something like Dappit or openkapow will become good enough to provide XML feeds created by users for use with our programs. We do have discshop.se which I know is not the same a Danish, but it's a starting point. I wish Amazon was available for every country, as they have done such a great job with their API service.

The Discshop.se plug-in comes included with DVDpedia; you'll find it under the Site drop down menu in the search window. API stands for 'Application programming interface' and it basically describes a service provided by a web site to answer computer requests. Amazon for example has an API, called Web Services, which returns information from the Amazon database in response to search queries.
