I really love CDpedia but am frustrated by something that is either already a feature that I am overlooking, or something that is lacking in the program. I often use the "Search" feature to look for songs by an artist, i.e., songs by an artist on any and all of my compilations, whether it be a compilation of various artists, or a "greatest hits" type of compilation of just one artist. Let me use as an example the artist "Turtles". When I search under the "Artist" field CDpedia comes up with all CD's that have "Turtles" in the artist's name, which includes an artist named "Mock Turtles", which I understand, and additionally, only CD ALBUMS under that artist, but not any SONG TITLES done by that artist. When I attempt to search using the "Tags" field I get the exact same results. When I use the "Title" field I only get one hit, a CD album with "turtles" in the album name. When I use the "All Fields" field I understandably get every mention of 'turtles", whether it be artist, song title, or album, but this is not the results wanted. Using the "Track Others" field gets the exact same results as "All Fields".
Is there a way to search for all the artist's songs on all CD's in the database, and have it list every single song (and, of course, the CD it is located on) by that artist?
Searching for all songs by artist
"Track others" is the search type you want. This will search tracks names, artists and composer at the track level as well as the artist field at the album level. It will not be the same as "All fields"; that should not include the album with the name "turtles", unless it also has an artist named turtle.
