How to play DVD images

Post by jy_nl »

When you go to the full screen mode, movies with a VIDEO_TS folder attached to it, can be played automatically in the DVD Player. But how about image files like .iso and .img? When an image file is attached to the movie, you can't play it directly in DVD Player. Can I do something about that?

Also, can I program the pedia such that when I click on a DVD image link, it doesn't only mount the image, but also starts DVDpedia?

And, when .avi files are clicked, DVDpedia plays the files in DVDpedia itself. Can I configure such that it will play the .avi in for example Quicktime or VLC Media Player?

Thanks again.

I have updated the current beta so that when you have .iso or .img link it check inside the mounted volume for a VIDEO_TS folder, if it find one it plays it. Get the DVDpedia beta and try linking your .iso files.

You must have an internet plug-in that understand .avi files, hence why they play in DVDpedia; in the preferences under style check "Open links in external web browser" this will apply to the .avi links and they will open with your default movie player.

Just more thing, but maybe you've already seen that. In full screen mode, there isn't a "play button" when the movie is linked to an .iso or .img. Could this also be added?

The fact that it has a movie linked only gets calculated when you add a link. Because your links were done before the feature was integrated, it did not recognize .iso as a movie. To refresh the links you added before this feature open the edit window to the links tab and with the plus add a blank link then hit next button to perform the save it will re check for movie links and have the play button, you can repeat the next button process to remove the empty link. If you have hundreds of movies with links already, send me your Database.pediadata file and I can write a special version of the program that will update that information for you and send the file back.

Fortunately, my database isn't that big yet so I did it manually. Anyway, thanks for your offer. Works perfectly now :D

Edit: by the way, almost all the information sites disappeared from the preferences menu. I now only see Amazon?

Excellent

The beta is missing the plug-ins but they will be there with the official release. You can copy the plug-ins folder from inside the release version to the beta version if you like to add them to the beta.
