When I click on the Sync button in Pocketpedia I get the "Synchronizing..." popup that sits there for a minute. After it disappears there are no collections listed on my iPod Touch. If I click Sync again the popup displays briefly and disappears, still with no collection listed.
Here are all the details I can think of to help trouble shooting:
I've got DVDpedia 4.3.0 running on my G5/OS 10.4.11
I've only got one collection in DVDpedia called "Barry's DVDs"
My G5 is networked into a router that my Airport Express is also connected to
My iPod Touch is successfully networked to the Airport Express
TIA
Pocketpedia not finding collection
Re: Pocketpedia not finding collection
After scanning through some other posts here I found the info that indicated that the Mac OS firewall was preventing the sync. After turning off the firewall I was able to sync but I would rather not leave the firewall off.
How do I determine which ports to open up in the firewall?

Re: Pocketpedia not finding collection
If the firewall is the Mac firewall you can grant access to DVDpedia under set access for specified applications. The port numbers are not hard coded, and the computer chooses the most convenient. You can find the port number in the same location under System Preference --> Security --> Firewall --> Advance --> Open Log.
Re: Pocketpedia not finding collection
Thanks Conor, that gave me enough info to track it down.
For completeness sake, here are the details of what I ended up doing to allow the sync.
The correct system preference to use is:
System Preference --> Sharing --> Firewall --> Advance --> Open Log
After attempting a sync I looked at the log and found lines like this:
I then created an entry in the firewall tab to allow TCP port number yyyyy (to be replaced with the actual number seen).

Re: Pocketpedia not finding collection
After rebooting I found that the port number is reassigned so granting access via port number is not a long-term option.
I don't see this in any of the preferences on my system. Where exactly is this done?Conor wrote:If the firewall is the Mac firewall you can grant access to DVDpedia under set access for specified applications.
Re: Pocketpedia not finding collection
This is what I was trying to make clear by mentioning that the computer chooses the best port. I just realized that Tiger users don't have this enhanced security feature. Instead of opening a port that all can use, Leopard has the ability to trust DVDpedia and let only DVDpedia communicate across the firewall. In the next version the port number might be static in order to let users set a specific port for those running Tiger or with hardware firewalls.
Re: Pocketpedia not finding collection
Thanks.
Since I don't update my DVD library very often I can deal with this until I move to Leopard.
