I'm using BookPedia 4.2.0 on Mac OS 10.5.2.
There's something backward in the relationship between the Multiple Add dialog and the iSight window. Take this scenario for example:
1. Click Edit | Add Multiple Books...
2. Click iSight.
3. Add some books.
4. Decide you're done adding books. Try to get back to where you were.
Since I perceive the iSight window to be a child of the Multiple Add dialog, my instinct is to close iSight first and then close Multiple Add. It can't be done. If I try to close iSight first, I get a system beep indicating I made a mistake. I scratch my head, try command-w... nothing. The iSight window can't be closed. Beyond that, most of the menu options are grayed out, so I really can't do anything in this position except add books. I can't even quit.
I kill -9'd Bookpedia 4 times before I found a better solution:
1. Click Edit | Add Multiple Books...
2. Click iSight.
3. Add some books.
4. Decide you're done adding books. Try to get back to where you were.
5. Close the Multiple Add dialog.
6. Close the iSight window. (This time it closes properly.)
7. The Multiple Add dialog reappears automatically. Close it again.
Now you're back to the Bookpedia main window and everything is back to normal.
If I'm missing something, I'd be grateful if someone would explain what.

Can't close iSight window after adding multiple books
Re: Can't close iSight window after adding multiple books
Your not missing anything. Thank you for the detailed bug report, with explanation of the steps you took as well as what you expected. It was due to small change we made to the add multiple window recently. I have fixed the bug and you can download Bookpedia again.

Almost there...Conor wrote:Your not missing anything. Thank you for the detailed bug report, with explanation of the steps you took as well as what you expected. It was due to small change we made to the add multiple window recently. I have fixed the bug and you can download Bookpedia again.
Check this out:
1. Click Edit | Add Multiple Books...
2. Click iSight.
3. Scan a mass-market paperback of House of the Sprits. The correct barcode is "07678307994" but Bookpedia sees "0076783097995".
4. Wait 3+ minutes for the search to complete. (A configurable timeout on network communication would be nice here.) Eventually, Bookpedia adds A Wizard of Earthsea to the library.
5. The wrong book is now in the library. If I don't delete it right away, I'll forget about it. Close the iSight window and the Add Multiple dialog. Delete A Wizard of Earthsea.
6. Most of Bookpedia's menu options are now grayed out; can't do any more work. The only way to exit is to force-quit.

Correction: I was scanning the wrong barcode. Mass-market paperbacks have the ISBN barcode on the inside cover. D'oh.brandon wrote:Almost there...Conor wrote:Your not missing anything. The UI is still misbehaving, though.
