Linking to email addresses

As I make greater and heavier use of Book- and CDPedia, I want to extend its usefulness in other contexts. Eg associate a CD with an email address (eg of the record label).

Is there a way to use the Links feature with email addresses in Apple Mail and/or Address Book?

Create a new link and enter the URL mailto:apple@apple.com name with email. Whenever you click on the link email it will open your default mail client with the email filled in.

Dragging from Address Book directly won't work as Address Book creates a vcard on drag; when you click the resulting link you will get Address Book telling you that you are importing an already existing contact.
