Back on 11/1/24 I updated my Intel Mac from macOS 14 directly to macOS 15.1 and CDpedia 7 was able to display its database of music that I had brought in from my collection in Apple Music. I love using CDpedia to have a fast, easy-to-access, display, and search, listing of my music in Apple Music. However, after 11/1/24 and macOS 15.1, using CDpedia's "Import Playlist from Music..." command no longer could connect to Apple Music. I can click on songs in CDpedia and they will play in Apple Music, and "Refresh Apple Music Tracks" still seems to connect to Apple Music (but of course does not bring in new music listings from Apple Music). My CDpedia database is therefore static and is 6 months old.
Any ideas? I am using the latest CDpedia 7 beta and am currently on macOS 15.3.2.

CDpedia 7 not longer able to "Import Playlist from Music..."
Re: CDpedia 7 not longer able to "Import Playlist from Music..."
Hi and welcome to these wondrous forums concerning all things Bruji Pedia's. Please take a moment to read the "Sticky Lightbulb
" Topics at the top of PediaTalk Subforum you will find all manner of interesting Hints and Help.
Now I can verify that CDpedia ability to: "Import Playlist from Music..." is not working. Thanks for pointing this out.
Though I don’t use CDpedia myself per se, I do use it to help others with their forum inquiries.
Since I upgraded to Sequoia 15.3.2 on my new Mac mini M4 in December 2024, I did not install CDpedia version 7 Beta 312 nor did I copy over the existing trial database. So for your query I have done so, and I can verify it does not “Import Playlist from Music”. I have a totally empty CDpedia database.
Now, I have had I thought. I keep my Music on an external HD, along with all the rest of my media; photos, movies etc: '/Volumes/Media/Music Library/Music Library.musiclibrary’
So, I am presuming that CDpedia only looks in the macOS Music default location ??
Is your music library in a different location to the macOS Music default location ??
I have sent Conor an email concerning this Topic. So we wait and see what the outcome is.

Re: CDpedia 7 not longer able to "Import Playlist from Music..."
My Music file is in the macOS Music default location, so something else is wrong.
Thanks for sending this report to Conor. I've got my fingers crossed...

Re: CDpedia 7 not longer able to "Import Playlist from Music..."
And I just updated to macOS 15.4, and the "import Playlist from Music..." command in CDpedia still does not return a list of Playlists from Apple Music like it used to.

Re: CDpedia 7 not longer able to "Import Playlist from Music..."
I just played around with this and I was able to import my entire Music library and individual albums and tracks on macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 with CDpedia Ver 7 Beta 12
Using File > Import Collection, I pointed CDpedia to the location of my Music database: '/Volumes/Media/Music Library/Music' Remember my library is on an Ext HD. Instead of telling it to look at the file 'Music Library.musiclibrary' I just told it to look at the Music folder where all my music is stored AND chose a single or multiple albums or tracks within albums to import.
The Imported music will then appear in a CDpedia Collections column: Excluded or library-independent collections (with a grey folder icon) labelled 'Imported Audio'. From here you can then: right click > Include Collection in Library Then once that import is in the main Library (the grey folder icon will then change to blue) you can delete that Folder from the Collections column, till the next time you want to add newly added music from Music.
I hope this all makes sense. Let us know how you get on.

Re: CDpedia 7 not longer able to "Import Playlist from Music..."
As you suggested, I tried using File > Import Collection (my structure is a bit different from yours), but after waiting for 1 hour with no response and the Mac being so busy it was losing contact to my Bluetooth Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad, I finally force quit CDpedia. I've changed the Music structure a bit now by getting rid of the relic iTunes folders (that took an overnight of rebuilding file organization), and when I have more time I will try, first, to Import Playlist from Music, and 'when' that doesn't work, I will try File > Import Collection again.
Thanks for your testing. I'll let you know how it goes (after I have a chance to breathe and catchup with other things).

Re: CDpedia 7 not longer able to "Import Playlist from Music..."
Well, well. As I mentioned in my previous post, I changed the Music structure in the Mac's Finder to remove references to iTunes. I haven't figured out how to attach images in this post, so I can just say that working inside ~/Music, I moved the ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music folder & the ~/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork folder to ~Music/Music, and renamed the moved "iTunes Music" folder to just "Music". I then deleted the empty ~/Music/iTunes folder. So basically I now had a ~/Music/Music/Music and ~/Music/Music/Music Library structure.
Holding my breath, I then launched Apple Music... and all the music showed up. Whew. Then I went into Apple Music's Settings > Files and, with "Keep Media folder organized" checked, changed the "Media Location", which showed the old iTunes path, to ~username > Music > Music > Music. Apple Music asked me to confirm that I wanted to make this change, and 12 hours later it was complete. Apple Music showed all the music, art work, and played albums and playlists! Holy cow. I checked the ~/Music/Music/Album Artwork folder and it was basically empty, which really surprised me. I compacted the folder, and trashed the folder. Apple Music still worked and album covers showed (all artwork must have been embedded in the tracks).
After backing up the CDpedia folder in ~/Library/Application Support, I then launched CDpedia, and selected the "Import Playlist from Music..." menu ... held my breath (again), and the "Import Playlist" selection window appeared for the first time sin 7 months. I chose the "Music" playlist from the window. 20 minutes later the new Music playlist had been imported into CDpedia. Not all links to play tracks in Apple Music were working, so I then selected "View > Refresh Apple Music Tracks". Another 10 minutes later and all tracks in CDpedia had links to play tracks in Apple Music.
I can't say exactly why this worked, since everything was working fine until 7 months ago when I upgraded to macOS 15.1. I hope this helps someone, and thanks to FineWine kicking me into drastic action. BTW, the Pocketpedia app on the iPhone syncs all the CDpedia data over fine again.

Re: CDpedia 7 not longer able to "Import Playlist from Music..."
Oh, well done
Now I have, belatedly, done further research into the iTunes.app vs Music.app and discovered that in 2019 with Catalina they broke up iTunes and the music content part became Music.app. Along with this change also came the way tunes are now referenced in the database.
Previously iTunes used several folders and files to manage everything, but with the change to Music.app everything is now stored in Music Library.musiclibrary. Except Artwork!!
The new Library now just points to the folder Music, and this is where all your music is stored. The Library also includes Playlists and Smart Playlists. Metadata such as song ratings, equaliser settings, and volume adjustments. If you right-click on Music Library.musiclibrary and selecting Show Package Contents, you will find all the old iTunes files inside that package.
Album & Song artwork however are stored in two locations. It is either imbedded directly within the music file MP3 or MP4 or If you've purchased music from the iTunes Store, or if you've manually added artwork, it will be stored in the Album Artwork folder. This folder is a cache that music creates and updates automatically. The artwork can be found here: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.APMArtworkAgent/Data/Documents
This of course makes things difficult for CDpedia as it has to look at two different locations for its required information. It also explains why it took forever for you and me when we updated to the latest macOS Sequoia from Catalina. In my case, it became doubly difficult because I shifted my entire music library to an external drive, and it took forever for the artwork to reattach itself to albums and songs/tunes. Not helped by the fact that the artwork is stored on Mac Mini M4 SSD and the tunes on a Platter HD. So slow.
So this is why you had difficultly with CDpedia finding and importing all your music. As Conor is on a hiatus he has not updated the import code to take into account all these changes as iTunes was fully discarded around the time of Ventura 2022 and Sonoma 2023.
So, again well done for sorting it all out. With future queries concerning this I will point them to this topic if they haven't found it already
