IMPORTANT - Pedia's for Apple Silicon Released

Post by FineWine »

Great news everyone Conor (Top Dog) has release version 7 Beta 300 for Bookpedia, Gamepedia & CDpedia. DVDpedia to follow soon.

These updates contain:

Apple Silicon beta version 7 Beta 300
• 10.13+ only!
• Built for Apple Silicon, so best used on MacOS 11 and above, but should work on 10.13, 10.14 and 10.15.
• Quicktime libraires had to be stripped, so no metadata on imported quicktime files.
• iSight barcode scanning pair down for now, to work with Apple Silicon.
• Please let us know anything that doesn't work!

I personally are maxed out at macOS 10.15.7 Catalina so all those that are on macOS 11 please report back any problems etc.

Yes there are still some amazon and Dog House niggles, these will be fixed on a priority basis.

Hi,

I have been a DVDPedia user since August 4, 2014. I bought the app in the App Store.

This app has not appeared on Apple's website for some time and I have problems with its operation. It does not update records with the Filmaffinity server in Spain.

You comment that there are already new versions 7 beta 300 for Bookpedia, Gamepedia & CDpedia and that DVDpedia to follow soon. Where can I see and download the DVDPedia new version when the version is released?
Thank you

Welcome to these forums.

Please read this Topic re Conor's Hiatus.

There are 3 ways to ensure you keep the apps upto date:
1 - DVDpedia > Preferences > General > Tick Check for updates automatically on startup (weekly)
2 - DVDpedia > Check for updates
3 - Manual download from here: https://bruji.com/beta/
PS: the beta site pedia labels title have yet to be updated to reflect the version 7 number

Hi! Just replying to note that the beta seems to work well on Sonoma (macOS 14), except that the bug (with the all-white stats screen/bottom drawer) in the other thread is still present. Thanks! Hope everything is good with Conor.

Forgive me, but I'm not seeing the AS versions of the Pedia apps and the beta downloads are still 6.2.1. Oh, and what about the Pocketpedia iOS/tvOS apps?

I just came by because my CDpedia had a broken registration and had a bad feeling, but read the important posts of the last months and really hope the pedias are kept alive - this update makes me feel better even if I don't need it for myself at this moment. Thanks at Conor for not forgetting the users and you for helping us out! :)

I just launched DVDpedia and was presented with the update for 7.0 and Beta 301 was installed! And the other pedia 7.0 update are available at the https://bruji.com/beta/ link. And note that they're listed as Beta version 6, but they are Bookpedia 7.0 Beta 301, CDpedia 7.0 Beta 300, and Gamepedia 7.0 Beta 301.

"YES!" (best Marv Albert imitation)

Thanks for that. Yes it appears that Conor has been working to swash some bugs.

All those that have reported bugs can you please check to see if they have been fixed and update the relevant Topic posts and of course if you discover any more bugs please create relevant Topic posts.

Is IMDB search gone for food in DVDPedia 7? That would be a deal breaker for me...

EDIT: Ok, opening the app's package contents I can see that there are multiple plugins for search sites, but only 4 are functional inside the application for me. Possibly a bug?

Thank you for that.

Have you tried some or all of these Pedia Maintenance Practices

Thank you for your reply. I've tried the steps outlined in the link you posted, but the problem persists. It does seem like a bug in the new version.

OK. I was hoping deleting of the caches and preferences would fix this.

Give Conor time and it will be attended to. 😀

What does:
"Quicktime libraires had to be stripped, so no metadata on imported quicktime files". ... mean?

"Imported" as in you have a link to a QT movie file on disk? I have a bunch of movie files linked but none are .mov files ... I don't know what's inside of the mkv or mp4 files though. And no idea what metadata DVDPedia gets from any of them

Is there a way to access previous beta versions? Or: any solution to get the sites plug-ins working again? Specifically IMDB, which only worked with the previous (V6) beta.
