I 'am an pedia 4.6.4 legal snow leopard user and i' am asking me if it is the right time to update to pedia 5.6 because there is a new pedia 6 in preparation.
The risk is to pay twice in a short delay the updates.

if snow leopard is still relevant for you, pedia 6 ist not, it will only support 10.12+. So I'd say the 5 update should still be interesting for you. Support is great as always... is there any reason against version 5 for you that did prevent you from updating until now? For me they are still great apps, but I did not know them before 5, so you might know more than me in this area.

There is always a large free upgrade period so there is no fear of paying twice for two update. Also as mentioned by Waldbaer you will need at least MacOS Sierra for the latest.
