Apart from syncing working both ways as described in another thread (Pocketpedia syncing behavior), here are my main suggestions to make pocketpedia a better app and a lot more functional.
1. Ability to add a title from within a Collection instead of needing to go in the Doghouse panel and then manually reselecting the collection we want to add it to.
You could have a "+" sign in the UI of the collections for quick input inside that collection, instead of needing to go to doghouse and then choosing again the collection (a LOT less fiddling around)
2. More sorting options: by date added, genre, and at least 2 custom fields of our choice.
3. A Grid/Gallery view with the posters/album artwork only. (see image from springpad below)
4. Since Doghouse is still in it infancy and/or has a lot of bugs/errors in its database it would be nice to have another source for input like we do in DVDpedia. It's sort of a pain to clean up the entries done through doghouse. (I like imdb cause it's reliable and it has all the info but you guys have had problems with it I think? then what about http://www.themoviedb.org ?)
Here are Snapshots of the app Springpad. I think you could get inspiration here.
Real nice, simple, elegant and functional UI and it answers to all the UI and functionality request mentioned here. (I really like that darker UI. It fits stuff like film lists and such)
Gallery view. Notice the big "+" button that still leaves the UI uncluttered. Notice also the View option and sorting options buttons.

4 things to make pocketpedia better & more functional
Re: 4 things to make pocketpedia better & more functional
Thank you for the feedback. We are currently working on most of those, and two of them will make it into the next version. The iOS7 redesign has slowed a lot of the features we wanted to add by now, since we had to update a lot of the app. Specially for the iPhone. The iPad version we did later and was already mostly iOS 7 looking.

Good to hear.
Which two of the fours are coming ? And around when is the new version coming? You mean like a complete overhaul of the app it seems not those maintenance and bug related updates? x
iPad version?
check out springpad for ipad. Grid view is beautiful on the iPad. Really think that one is a must!
Side panel is nice because it folds away when you get back to the library selected instead of the fixed one on pocketpedia ipad. (maybe make it an option in the prefs?)
That side panel would be great on the iPhone too for a quick way to get back to where you were. I find it's a faster way to navigate in general that the older < Back I button
