iPad App

Post by mortond »

Does, will, the iPad app have the capability of functioning as a remote?
I have a Mac Mini acting as a media center, HDMI'd to my TV. It runs DVDPedia getting it's library from my Synology DS411 NAS device.
Running DVDPedia in fullscreen mode I wish to remotely control it from my iPad.
Start, stop and pause would be good enough.
I have the Plex & XBMC apps which work fine but only on their parent apps. I much prefer the DVDP look and layout and would prefer to use it.
My Apple remote only controls one button in DVDP (not the play button) the remote 'play' button turns on XBMC.

I have played with all the play buttons on all of my remotes (I have a lot of them) with no fruitful results.

Any ideas?

DVDpedia works with the control remote, sounds like XBMC has control of the remote and is not letting DVDpedia interact with it. Since it sounds like you would like to run all three programs, I would use something Remote Buddy that is smart about the front most program and passes the commands to DVDpedia or XBMC. You can also do more with Remote Buddy as you can program your own commands.

Thank you for the feedback on turning Pocketpedia into a remote for DVDpedia, it's a possibility for a future update.
