Incoming Network Connections

Why does DVDpedia as me to "allow incoming network connections?" What purpose does it serve if I allow it? And will it cause any problems if I refuse it (it doesn't seem to thus far)?

If you have a software firewall, DVDpedia might ask you to allow incoming connections so that you can sync with Pocketpedia mainly. Any other connections that require network use will also be affected by the firewall. That might include some of the export options depending on how you use them.
