Re: Bookpedia: Dragging covers doesn't work anymore (4.6.8)

Thank you, Conor, for the answer. Weird indeed. I kept trying and trying all I could think of. Finally I shut off the computer and then restarted from cold, and it now works! I don't think it was just my error, but who knows? I think I had tried the copy-paste, too, but, IIRC, it didn't work, either...

Bookpedia: Dragging covers doesn't work anymore (4.6.8)

I'm still using Bookpedia 4.6.8 on OS X.6.8 (Snow Leopard). I hadn't input any books for maybe six months or a year, and now I'm trying to put in a few. Several must have covers manually scanned and added. It used to work, IIRC, to just drag the cover .jpg / .png file from Finder onto the new book e...

Re: Custom user field names (where? export? import?)

plist file of the program. You'll find it in your Home folder under ~/Library/Preferences/com.bruji.bookpedia.plist. Copy the file over to the exact same location
Thank you very much. That did it!

Custom user field names (where? export? import?)

Hello, I'm using Bookpedia 4.6.8 on Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Unfortunately, I had to replace my harddrive. Although I got my database to move over OK, I've lost all my custom field names, and I don't remember what they all were. I can access a backup of the data on the old HD, so if there is a file th...

Re: Option Command F (can I search entire database?)

Thank you, Nora. That will do what I need for the times when I'm entering books, but am not sure either if they have already been entered in the Library itself or in the Wish List. Then I can exclude the Wish List later (generally it is not helpful for me to have the Wish List included in the Librar...

Option Command F (can I search entire database?)

Although I've had Bookpedia quite a while, I've only inputted books sporadically. I'm doing it again. A problem I've run into is that some of the books I'm adding are already in my Wish List, but I'm doing Opt-Cmd-F to search within the database from within "Library", not Wish List. I woul...

Shortcut for getting to the Spotlight-like search box

Hi, everyone,

If I type Command+F, the "Search Web" box comes up. Is there a quick way to access the Finder-type search box in the upper right corner of the screen so I can search my database? I'm using Bookpedia 4.6.1.

Thanks!

Anyone want to make a search plug-in for Bookpedia?

Hi! I have posted a job for making a Bookpedia search plug-in for Lithuanian books. It's over my head to make one. Maybe someone that made one for another language would like to do this one? The site is accessible in English as well as Lithuanian. Please see http://www.rentacoder.com/RentACoder/misc...

Re: Borrow vs. Lend

Thoroughly enjoying Bookpedia! I'm just wondering if this topic's idea has been implemented yet (for me what matters is Bookpedia). It seems there really should be two separate collections: Loaned to others and Borrowed from others. Also, I have used up the 10 custom fields (long ago) and am really ...

Re: Bookpedia Newbie questions

Bookpedia will never overwrite information already present in a field. Bookpedia does pick up the Subjects from the LOC but they were added to the Genre field. We've changed that in the Beta so that the subjects are now added to the Subjects field. A thought: might it be good if one could select fi...

Re: Authors with first names and last names

Thank you for the feedback. The recent addition of the sort title field (off by default) has worked really well in allowing user flexibility when it comes to title sorting. Now that it has proven efficient in our shipping version we might expand it to include a sort author in a future version. I ag...

Re: Authors with first names and last names

Hi Bob, To sort your authors by last name, hold down the Option key and sort the author column once more by clicking on the "Author" column header. What I noticed is that this will only work correctly with names that are only FIRSTNAME LASTNAME. If there is a middle initial or if the midd...

Bookpedia-custom fields-import file for autofill items?

Wonderful program! The more I use it the more I like it! Thanks. I have set one custom field to "Personal classification #". I have a list of classifications and names that is rather extensive. Is it possible to propagate the auto-fill list for a custom field from an external file, say .xl...

Re: z39.50 servers - how to search their data

Does anyone else use Bookpedia to access Lithuania's National Library database? How do you do it? I still can't get any hits via Bookpedia. Another book to try is Patarlių žodynas, ISBN 9789986161783. It doesn't get found via Bookpedia, either.

Re: Bookpedia: Is Library of Congress (LOC) being accessed?

The number you gave only has 12 digits an EAN 13 ISBN (that do start with 978) would have 13 digits? Also searching by title and author I cannot find the record directly on the LOC site . Well, well, well, did I ever do an "oops". You're totally right! It's supposed to have another "...
